Prior to the national lockdown MERT had begun to include COVID-19 as part of our event risk assessments and had sourced PPE for use in anticipation of contact with potentially infected casualties.
Since restrictions were introduced in early 2020 almost all events have been cancelled. As restrictions are beginning to be eased we have implemented procedures to protect volunteers and patients. This includes introduction of AGP packs for resuscitation and increased availability of PPE for all other treatments.
Changes to some procedures have been put in place guided by national recommendations and these will be reviewed along with risk assessments prior to each event.
All volunteers are CoVID checked using a proven screening tool prior to attendance at events and carry out a Lateral Flow Test prior to events.
